Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is based on the concept that your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are interconnected, and that negative thoughts and feelings can trap you in a vicious cycle & leaving you feeling stuck. CBT aims to help you identify these dysfunctional patterns & create meaningful changes.

Systemic Intervention

Systemic Intervention looks at not only you, but the world that you live in and how it works for you. What's oppressive, what's uplifting, what's within your control - what's well outside of it. Everything is up for discussion here, because your context is what creates you.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing is an approach designed to help you find the motivation (key word here) to make a positive behaviour change. This is particularly effective for people who have mixed feelings about change, but know they need to. A great one for when you're feeling stuck in a rut, but know you're not quite ready to climb out.

Mindfulness Based Intervention

Encompassing therapeutic approaches grounded in mindfulness, designed to deliberately focus your attention on the present experience in a way that is non-judgmental. This is typically used in conjunction with other therapies, such as CBT, DBT, or EMDR.

Family Group Conferencing

Family group conferencing is a way to bring family members together in a positive way with an impartial person, to facilitate conflict resolution, future planning, & safeguarding. Families have found this form of intervention to be a really helpful way to work out a plan that everyone has participated in, and agrees to.

Online Courses

Programs ranging from 1-12 weeks, utilising positive psychology, neuroscience, coping skills & solution focussed therapy, designed to improve overall well being.

Dialectical behavior therapy is a modified type of CBT. It can help people who have difficulty with emotional regulation &/or self-destructive behaviours. It helps people learn how to live in the moment, improve communication develop healthy coping mechanisms, regulate their emotions, and improve their relationships with others. This is typically delivered through an intensive program, The Self Helped therefore offers DBT skills.

Solution-Focused Brief Therapyis future-focused, solution-focussed & goal-directed. It utilises positive psychology principles and practices, which helps you to create change by constructing solutions, rather than focusing on problems. In the most basic sense, SFBT is a hopeful, strengths based, positive emotion eliciting, future-oriented vehicle for formulating, motivating, achieving, and sustaining desired behavioural change.

Cognitive Processing Therapy is a specific type of cognitive behavioural therapy that reduces symptoms of trauma. It's delivered over 12 sessions and helps you to learn how to challenge and modify unhelpful beliefs related to the trauma. In so doing, you create a new understanding of the event so that it reduces its effects on your life.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (mouthful & a half) is designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories. It is widely assumed that severe emotional pain requires a long time to heal.  EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma.

Single Session Therapy

This approach treats each session like it's your last - although it doesn't have to be. Every session is considered as one self-contained psychotherapy with a beginning, middle, and end. It directly targets your concerns / goals & supports the idea that change can actually happen over night.
